GMercyU Hosts Senior Awards Banquet

Gwynedd Mercy University kicked off Commencement Week with its annual Senior Awards Banquet to celebrate the accomplishments, both academic and athletic, of its senior student-athletes on May 13. The Griffins were joined by family and friends as their coaches shared kind words about their collegiate careers at GMercyU.

In addition, Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo presented three awards. The first, the Donahue-Elliot Senior Scholar Award, was presented to Ava Casale, member of the Women’s Basketball team, for being a graduating business administration major with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA). Branden Soubik, member of Men’s Cross Country and Men’s Track & Field, was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Year, and Ashley Brown, member of Women’s Volleyball, was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Both were recognized by coaches and athletics staff for their academic and athletic accomplishments over their four years as a Griffin.

The last award presented was the Golden Tape Award, created in 2023 to recognize a student-athlete who had to overcome an injury. This year’s recipient is Ashley Haggerty, member of the Softball team.
